Carol Christian Poell: A true experimentalist with a couturier’s approach to the avant-garde. Each hand-made object that leaves his studio is bespoke, a hybrid of artistic experimentation and traditional Milanese leatherwork.Inspired by the Art Povera movement, The designer radically transforms familiar forms into decomposed objects. Each piece is imbued with this Romanticist philosophy: an amalgam of the grotesque and the beautiful.
Belonging to Poell's "In Between" collection, the Paper Dart sneaker is an amalgamation of architectural structure and tactile intensity. A wrinkled calf leather upper sits poised atop a sole formed from a series of rubber plinths. The bottom half of the piece is coated in a deluge of dripping rubber, left raw and dribbling to the earth.
