A collaboration between contemporary Chinese artist Cai Guo Qiang and Issey Miyake Pleats Please for the brand's 1998 guest artist series.

Famous for his use of pyrotechnics, Cai Guo Qiang is renowned for "public explosion events"; gunpowder and pigments are set alight, with abstract drawings composed from their destruction. For Miyake's fourth guest artist series, Qiang conjured these destructive works of art onto the designer's pleated fabrics to be recreated as prints across the garments. 

Slim-fitting long shirt dress with spread collar and front-button closures. The pleating hugs the form. The ephemeral nature of Qiang's practice renders each dress as a unique art piece; each burn in the garment is an intentional remnant of destruction. Delicate hand wash, dry flat
