Carol Christian Poell: A true experimentalist with a couturier’s approach to the avant-garde. Each hand-made object that leaves his studio is bespoke, a hybrid of artistic experimentation and traditional Milanese leatherwork.Inspired by the Art Povera movement, The designer radically transforms familiar forms into decomposed objects. Each piece is imbued with this Romanticist philosophy: an amalgam of the grotesque and the beautiful.
Belonging to Poell's "Off-Scene" collection, the Rubber Band boot distorts the masculine with the mundane. A sanded Cordovan horse leather upper is contorted by a thick rubber band which wraps around the ankle, securing the foot in place like a rolled-up newspaper.
